Engine cam cover colours

I find it interesting that some F1's have different engine cover colours than other F1's. I would have thought #018 and #073, being 'LM Spec' would have different colours [like the LM's] but are plain like most F1's

'Standard' - [#007]

Red on #006

#038

The LM's [in this pic is LM2]

#11R

#12R

#16R

#17R

This is nice! #16R's engine covers were black in 1996.

Re: Engine cam cover colours

Is it to much to consider that when the cars were upgraded by new owners that the owners could choose the coulour they wanted? Not saying this is correct but it's possible?

Re: Engine cam cover colours

Not all of them Sami

I don't have a recent pic of #07R's cam covers is it's all orange bodywork, but #08R still has black cam covers

We have already seen #11R has them in orange [different pic used this time ]

I don't have a picture of #14R's cam covers whilst it is in its current orange bodywork

and we have already seen #16R's cam covers in Orange [different pic used this time round ]

Re: Engine cam cover colours

Just curious, is the cam cover paint regular automotive paint or is it special paint to handle the temperatures in the engine bay? (ex. powder coated etc.)

Re: Engine cam cover colours

Greg, thanks. I just thought that if LM is the target, then cam covers must be like LM. But good all haven't done same way.

006's covers are Rocket Red, matching the ones on 058

70's are very cool in red crackle finish

no no no

Ferrari,s are Ferrari,s and McLaren,s are McLarens

Did not like these the first time I saw them, bit like putting a moustache on the Mona Lisa.

Greg, what about the ultra lightweight covers on the S70/3 engine fitted in the 97GTR,s
