Help Trouble codes P1518 and P0220 on

Ok here is the deal. I'm working on a 2003 Gmc yukon xl, which is the same as the suburban. Check engine light is on and the codes P0220 (TPS sensor) and P1518 (TAC throttle actuator control) are on. I've cleared both codes drove the vehicle all day, but when I shut it off and start it back up the two codes are back on and a message on the dash says reduced power, and there is no throttle. However if I clear the codes everything goes back to normal until I shut the thing off again and the 2 codes pop on and it says reduced power... Now I've cleaned the tps sensor electrical connector thinking this was the problem, but no luck. Has anyone ran into this problem and what can I do to fix it?

If the connector and connection to , are not corroded damaged then , the throttle body will need replacing.

THIS IS A WELL KNOWN GM DEFECTIVE PART ON 2003 MODELS !

Thanks for the help... I've ordered a reman one from our local parts store and will most likely install it Monday.

Re: Help Trouble codes P1518 and P0220 on

Update on the status. Apon replacing the throttle body with a reman one, I'm getting a new code. P2135. I've also replaced the pedal control box on the firewall (with a used one) because of a hole in the casing. The new throttle body is making a lot of noise like it's trying to adjust. I just doesn't sound right. So I've installed the old one again, and now I'm getting three codes coming on. They are not on at the same time but tripping at random. P1515, p1516, and the p2135.This problem is driving me mad (no pun intended).

with the new code on the rebuilt throttlebody and now the original , my guess is you did something to the wiring/connector/pins etc . check that the wires at the connector are not broken at the pin connection /things like that.

the rebuilt unit did correct the common throttlebody codes.

Re: Help Trouble codes P1518 and P0220 on

After work tonight I checked the yellow wire from the throttle body all the way back to the control box on the firewall with a ohm meter. The wire is good. I'm thinking I have to take it to the dealership, even though I hate to give them any money.

the first thing the dealership is going to do is cut off the old connector and splice in the new one.

If you do end up going to the dealership, please keep us posted as to the progress of your repair. I'm available to you to assist in any way that I can along the way!
All the best,

Re: Help Trouble codes P1518 and P0220 on

Update again... After checking all the wires from the throttle body to the throttle control unit on the cowl, we decided to disconnect the battery for a couple of hours just as a last ditch effort. Apparently that did the trick. So far the check engine light and reduced power have not come back. And everything seems to be normal.
