EGR System?
NO (PPM): Oxides of nitrogen (more commonly called NOx) are odorless gases that help form smog, and give smog its characteristic brown color. NO is produced when temperatures in the combustion chambers exceed 2500 degrees Fahrenheit. Excessive engine temperatures could be caused by a lean fuel mixture, by retarded timing, by carbon buildup inside the combustion chamber, or by a malfunctioning engine cooling system. The function of the EGR System is to reduce NO. Unhealthy levels of NO emissions result in a vehicle failing its Smog Check. NO is measured in parts per million (PPM).
This is what I failed in my smog check. I have gon to Kragen auto parts to ask for EGR valves but they say that the 1988 Honda CRX Si does not have any EGR system. Does any 1 know what these parts look like & are located in the engine bay, I would like to replace all components related to this EGR and NOX problem! Thanx for any help given! BTW: I have replaced the radiator the radiator cap and thermostat, car runs cool! (New coolant in her)

you might just try running some fuel injector cleaner through... start with the simple cheap stuff and work your way up.
also, before you go get smog checked, make sure that your car is nice and warmed up so that the catalytic converter is working properly... they have to be hot before they are effective. just want to cover the cheap stuff first so you don't pay more than you have to.

also, i think they are referring to something like OBD... i'm not sure though, but that sounds like what they are referring to.

Disconnect your PCV valve & plug the hose, then get tested.
Make sure your car is hot before you go.

Than-x guys will try all the sugestions you all gave me!
I picked up a Haynes manual and it said will in a diagram it shows an EGR Solenoide valve on the fuel injected CRX/HB/Sedans and a air jet and some other valves! On another note I am thinking of getting a ZC how will that effect me getting smoged is there problems with passing smog with a ZC or will I just be not smoged!
