What changes did Ford make to the upper intake in July 2002 to the Windstar?
Looking at two low mileage engines to replace my 1999 3.8L Windstar which has a bent connecting rod courtesy of an intake manifold leak.
From Hollander Interchange, they used one type of upper intake through July 30, 2002, and a different upper intake after that. Was this done to correct the infamous loss upper baffle, or some other reason (better sealing)? The engines are on either side of the July 2002 build date. I did some internet searching.
I looked up the Doorman brand replacement upper intake manifold for years 2000 through 2003 and get the same part number, however, they state that all are upgraded to overcome the weakness that caused them to fail. I have never ordered from this site, but link for informational use. http://www.fastpivotsoftware.com/cus...1947%7C1946%7C I seem to get the same parts for 1999 - 2003 on the Rockauto site also...
