passenger side mirror will not go into proper position

My passenger side mirror will not automatically return to it's preset position. I can manually adjust it, so the mechanism works. It is not set to face downwards when i am in reverse. It seems to "hunt" for a position and then settle to one that is way lower than the per-assigned position. Any ideas?

Re: passenger side mirror will not go into proper position

I reset the car to factory defaults and the problem seems to have gone away.
