you can use any old soft 100% cotton shirt to use with polishing compound. the best is the microfiber cloth that is sold in eyeglass shops for cleaning your glasses. here are some links to polishing cloths sold through HLJ, I don't really think you need them you can get most of them here.

IMO, an old white fruit of the loom or hanes t-shirt works best. Cut out a small square, and you'll have enough cloth to polish/wax over 20 cars.

If you are buying the wax, it comes with a polishing cloth.
This is what you need to get.
You can use the cloth for compound as its easy to wash out and dry.

Warm water and mild soap will do the job as well.

for the compound, Ive found that 3M rubbing compound works great too. Its about $9 US for 8 oz. I made a SEMI-GLOSS black hood look like glass with this stuff.

Another alternative to using an old T-shirt is to go to your local automotive store and purchase a bag of "detail clothes." They are really soft, you get enough to use for tons of kits, and they are around $5-$7 for a bag of around 10-12 sheets. You can easily polish 4 kits with one sheet. I cut them to size and toss them in the garbage when I am done.

I've used both Tamiya's rubbing compound and Novus Fine Scratch remover #2 and like the Novus more. I just polished the cowling on my F1 with the Novus and waxed with the wax I use for my car. I posted a couple of pics of the results (cheap plug for my laborous work ).
