Master Chief Lancer Evolution VII WRC

This Tamiya kit was originally supposed to be done with the colors of a car club that I belong to but this got shelved halfway through the painting process (but the chassis was already done). When I took it out of the box 3 years later (yes, it took that long ), the base color (Tamiya Acrylic) reacted badly with the clearcoat (industrial Acrylic Lacquer clearcoat) so I stripped off the paint using 99% isopropyl alcohol. Thinking of what to do, it just so happened that the 2011 edition of Bungie day (7-7 or July 7) was upcoming, and what better way for this Halo addict to celebrate Bungie's swan song (Halo: Reach) and it's handing over of the franchise to 343 Industries (which is anyway made up mostly of Bungie people) than to do this in Master Chief's colors.

Interior-wise, I fashioned some cloth belts using red cloth strips but kept the decal part of the pads and buckles as I didn't have any PE stuff around at that time.

Paint was taken care of when I found a bottle of Tamiya acrylic blue paint and when i stirred it, it was metallic blue (hahahaha). I then added a bit of burnt iron and a lot of clear yellow to the mix (2 coats, though in retrospect I should've airbrushed it). The canopy was painted Tamiya Clear Yellow Acrylic (might redo this due to the dirt that clung to the paint), then had the "117" stenciled on the rear passenger windows (which I might redo in the future). Lastly, I hand-drew the UNSC logo on the roof using an overhead projection marker.
