2000 Taurus ignition problem

My issue is that when i turn the key in on position the lights come on try to turn over the motor but nothing and the lights dont dim so it is not the battery thought it might be the starter but changed it with a brand new one. i dont know what it is can anyone help me is it the ignition switch, the ignition module, the key and core or something totally diffrent checked fuses and they look good.

The On position is usually referred to as the Run position. The Start position is the position the key should be in to engage the starter motor. The warning lights will typically go out when in the Start position. Are these the lights that don't dim, or do you mean with the headlights on they don't dim when turned to the Start position? In the Start position do the warning lights go out? Does the Security or Theft light come on or flash when trying to start the engine? Have you tried a different key?

First confirm that the car is securely in Park. If so, try turning the key to the Run position, step on the brake pedal, and ship to Neutral. See if the car will start now. If so, the Transmission Range Sensor may be failing. If not, get out your test light or multimeter and check if voltage is getting to the starter solenoid when the key is turned to the Start position.
