97 gtp fan only working on high

Hello friends its been a while since Ive stopped by but I am in a bit of a bind with a fan problem on my 97 gtp. When I turn on my heat and ac fan it will only work on its highest setting. It just started going bad one day first it wouldn't work on 1then it wouldn't work on 2 or 3 now all I have is 5. Sometimes I get a belt screach from in the dash its done that since I've owned the car. Is this a problem with the controls that the knobs are on or is this a problem up in the dash? Im hoping I don't have to pull my dash apart to fix it. Any ideas would be appreciated thanks in advance

Justin

hi, it's the resistor board in the heater box, need to pull out the blower motor and the board will be right there. do a search for replacing the resister board here and it will give you the removal and installation of the resistor board

The blower motor resistor is a good advice as aliasmax said, but an intermittent fan can also be caused by a bad ignition switch harness. Have you noticed any electrical gremlins like the DIC or the interior lights aren't working.

Oscar.

If it was losing speeds, one at a time, and now only has high, more than likely the resistor block......remove the hush panel on pass side, and find the blower motor.......follow the harness from the blower motor back to the resistor block......3-5.5mm screws hold it in place....
