Possibly the transmission?

Hi there,

I have 98 V6 GT 2door 3.8L. 175000 miles

Whenever I take off a little too fast, it feels like that my tires are spinning but they are not. If I take off slow and after the car shifted, I can floor the gas pedal and there are no problems. Could it be my transmission? Do you guys need any more details?
If it is my transmission, what seems to be the problem and how could it be fixed? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Possibly the transmission?

Welcome to AF!!

There are a couple of possibilities here. First you could have a bad torque convertor causing the power to not be transferred properly. Second it is possible that the transmission is going bad but without a diagnosis it is hard to tell. I would take the car to a local transmission shop and have them diagnose it for you. Most shops will do the job for free. This would be the best way to see what is really going wrong.

Re: Possibly the transmission?

I took it to the shop this morning to get it checked. At first the guy thought it was the mounts but then he put in gear and with one foot on the brake and the other pushing the gas a little>>>just gave it the rest. It was the tranny going bad and.............thanks for the replies
