First check all fuses. Then check the inertia (fuel cut off) switch in the trunk. You can use a test light to see if the switch is sending current to the pump. If there is current coming out of the switch, it is a good bet the pump has failed.

Re: 2001 gm ls fuel pump?

I checked the fuel rail and no pressure. I checked voltage at the inertia (fuel cut off) switch in the trunk, it had 6v. Im confident now that the pump has failed. I will let you know after change out. Thanks for the help.

Re: 2001 gm ls fuel pump?

If there is just 6 volts at the inertia switch, there is a voltage problem. There should be 12 volts coming in and 12 volts going to the pump.

Re: 2001 gm ls fuel pump?

Check where the current comes from that feed the inertia switch. You may just have some corrosion on a connection somewhere. Does the switch have 6 volts on both sides or just the side to the pump? if it is the side to the pump, replace the inertia switch.
