2008 GC 6 speed transmission
I have a 2008 GC 6 speed transmission that has 55000 miles on it. When the engine and tranny is cold the transmission shifts very hard until it warms up. There are times when shifting from reverse to drive it shifts very hard. Does anyone has any experience with this?
Also, the siding doors creak when driving over rough roads. Can they be adjusted? |

Re: 2008 GC 6 speed transmission
I have drove a lot of these 6 speed transmissions. I've had several of them shift harsh intermittently. Sadly I have yet to figure out a reason why. I do know that Chrysler had a lot of issues with these transmissions. The rattle in the sliding doors is nothing new either. What I do to fix it is take some kind of grease, I use wheel bearing grease, and smear it generously inside the upper and lower door tracks on both sliding doors. I usually just smear the grease on the front 2 feet of the tracks. I also use a grease that Chrysler recommends, Part #05019060AA, on the door latch strikers along with the front door latch strikers. You may have to slide the door several times to back and forth to get the grease around the rollers. I will warn you that the grease is expensive for the small tube that you get from Chrysler.

I found that if I let the motor close them instead of closing them manually they don't creak, or at least not nearly as much. If anyone finds a solution with the hard tranny shifting please post it. Also, the gas mileage is horrible, I'm averaging less than 16, EMPTY! I average 16.9 on my 2003 3.3L with a 4-speed, fully LOADED with work equipment. So far I am pretty disappointed with the 2008. |
