Please read, help needed

OK, the deal is I just bought an 87 eldorado. 131k miles, cosmetically its in great shape inside and out, and the engine sounds great and starts right up, no wierd noises or anything. and everything works. All the power items, driver control center, AC. But 5 hours after I got the car the transmission blew. The guy I bought it from is replacing it for free, but I'm worried that I'll just encounter more problems with it and end up with a money pit. I might be able to return it and get my money back under the massachusetts lemon law, but I really like the car. Anyone who has experience with this car or similar ones, any help would be much appreciated. Email me at [email protected] or IM me (AOL) on elwoodblues43. thanks

What motor does it have? If it's the 4.5 you'll be fine. My 85 has the 4.1 and luckily it has run great for over 130K. The only problems I have are noisy front wheel bearings which I'm trying to take care of now. The A/C needs help - needs a recharge and a new blower module, the fan keeps blowing even while key is off. The only way to turn it off is to unplug it.
