Completed : Fujimi VW Golf MkV GTI
Hello.
I recently completed my Fujimi Golf MkV that I was working on while waiting for my real VW's delivery. Built oob with some corrections and additions. The paint is Gaia Pure white for the rest of the body and mixed dark grey for plastic trims. I also painted interior and chassis to match the reference photos as much as possible, using various shades of grey, silver, etc. I decide to paint wheels grey for sharper look and also help making oversized rims look smaller. Taillights are painted to simulate dark LED lights. License plates, which completely ruins the look of the vehicle, are Japanese ones backed by Euro plates. Even though precise fit pieces and effective part breakdowns help make the kit look nice when finished, some questionable details and unnecessary tight-fit parts are paint to deal with and may cause unwanted trouble while assembling. But I am happy with the result overall, especially I liked the grey rims. Here're pics ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Some small stuff for the interior. The coin is the same size as a penny. ![]() Fully detail-painted chassis received weathering. ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for looking. |

i love the painting in the interior! you must have a very steady hand for those white details. Great work, but why did you put the Japanese plates on top of the euro plates?

Re: Completed : Fujimi VW Golf MkV GTI
I have to say its a really well built mkV. White suits it very well. The weathering on the chassis and interior is top notch. I think it would look better without the plate on top of the other plate but i know what you are trying to accomplish.
BTW If it could be a tad bit lower would also look better IMO. That is what some people do here in the states and else where. Here in the states people put on euro bumpers so what fits it perfect is a euro plate, but riding here on euro plates will get you a ticket. So some people put on the euro plates underneath for easy access to what looks good i guess. Last edited by MidMazar; 12-13-2011 at 05:09 PM. |

Nice and clean, I also think white is the perfect color for the MkV

Re: Completed : Fujimi VW Golf MkV GTI
Hello! Thanks guys for your comments.
And euro z, what MidMazer is saying is the reason. Some european car owners want european look for their cars while staying out of trouble with traffic laws. They put euro plates behind their valid plates so that they can have the look they want legally. I knew I had to paint my Golf white for this project. This is the best color particularly for GTI. Thanks! |

Love it in white! I also do like the wheels in that color. The chassis is nicely wheatered. It only needs a bit of lowering imo, but very nice model!

WOWY the detail of the centre stack and even the printing on top of the shift knob is *top notch*! Is that actually painted by hand or decal or some other method? Amazing stuff!

Re: Completed : Fujimi VW Golf MkV GTI
Thanks guys! clem24, the shifting pattern on the shift knob was done by hand-painting! Actually, the shifter is one of the points that needed special attention. On the kit, the shifter was molded as DSG, non-stick shift, so I added some putty to "expand" the shift boots and curved shift knob from styrene rod.
I love how it came out! Thank you! |
