Re: 2005 Aveo Timing Belt Question

There is one right here on this site, http://aveodiy.blogspot.com/

Did you try a search? It is a little sketchy, but you get the idea.

Yea, sketchy is right. No indication on the crank sprocket location. Oh well, I got it done and found the valves are all toast.

Re: 2005 Aveo Timing Belt Question

I did mine a couple of years ago, there should be a notch in the timing belt cover and a mark in the sprocket IIRC.

Did you go over the 60,000 mile limit? If so, you're on borrowed time after that I think.

I would also recommend changing the water pump and associated pulleys while you're right there, might save some headaches later on. Next time I do one of these, I'm going to get a kit from Ebay, comes with the whole package. I'll try to post a link: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...All-Categories

Of course if the belt has broken with motor running as you have alluded to, then you'll be looking for a reconditioned head or getting yours repaired. Either way, quite costly.
