Looking for paint code alternative

Hey guys

Just got my first kit in years, Fujimi ID-47 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec R32 1/24.

As soon as I opened it, I noticed a slight "cut" that goes across the roof of the car, probably a mold fault?

Anyway, I would like to make the car as good as possible, which basically means the paint job needs to be as good as possible. Im thinking about using car paint, but Im not sure how much of Nissans LP2 midnight purple should I buy?

Are there any quality, non-agressive paints that are similar to factory colors? I noticed many paint jobs have big flakes (metallic effect) which makes them look unrealistic. Any solution for this?

I've been using Duplicolor paint with their primer sealer with good results. All I can say about metallics is try one & see how you like it. Some aren't bad, but larger flakes will look out of scale. Not a car, but my 1/48 Airwolf model looked good with its metallic paint. Hope that helps

How about paint designed for car models, such as Zero Paints (available at hiroboy.com) or Scalefinishes (scalefinishes.com)?

I didn't see any particular explanations in the thread, and from what I've seen, it's the best damn paint job on a model car I've ever seen.

good painting techniques, a clean environment, the use of Zero's 2k clear properly thinned, and polishing, if necessary.

You can try passing the paint through a paint strainer or an old pair of nylon stockings/tights. This will help to remove some of the flake from the paint and create a more 'realistic' scale effect...
