Front Right Tire Noise (93 Century)

93 Century with 134,000 miles on it. I bought this car used.

Issue: Driving down the road pass 25 miles on any surface, any right/slight right turn there will be this groaning/rubbery sound coming from the right front tire. Sounds like inner side of tire maybe rubbing on the frame or strut but I placed the car on a jack, took off the tire ran the car in drive, turned the wheel right but no groaning sound. There is normal clearance like the other side where tire, strut, frame are. Suspension looks rather new-ish. No plastics hanging. When driving straight and the car floats normal the groaning sounds when it bounces down. Left turn driving has no issues just right turns.

So, I looked at the cv boot and no rips. Alignment is good. The tire seems fine and not touching anything or any part. Also, its the right tire size. When the car bounces/float it feels like if the right side has more tightness. Maybe a defected tire?

Any ideas or suggestions anyone..? anything would help.

Thank you!

Re: Front Right Tire Noise (93 Century)

the only thing i can think of that would make noise only one way turning is a bad wheel bearing.a bad left side wheel bearing would cause noise when turning right off center.is there any play in right side?noise coming from power steering pump?

Re: Front Right Tire Noise (93 Century)

Agree with AutoJoe.....if you drive straight until the noise is loudest, SAFELY, turn the wheel slightly left, and then slightly right.....if the noise gets louder in one direction, and diminishes or goes away in the other, probably a front hub bearing assembly......

A loose bearing does not necessarily cause the noise....only way to know for sure, is to put the vehicle on a lift, and put the vehicle in drive...hold one wheel so the other spins fast...using a mechanic's stethescope, place it on one of the 3 bolts that holds the bearing to the knuckle and listen....do the same to the other side(hold wheel, etc.).....the side that is the loudest wins the new bearing......have seen many techs replace the WRONG bearing, just by listening on a road test.....
