'94 K1500 Transfer case ?

I have a 94 K1500, 5.7l, NV4500 trans, & NP241 transfer case. I am transferring oil from the transfer case to the transmission. I was told that the input/output seal is bad, but it was just changed 25,000 miles ago. Is it possible that I just have a breather plugged and that it causing to much pressure in the transfer case forcing the oil in to the trans? Or am I going to be pulling the transfer case again and replacing the seal?

normally the transmission fluid gets into the transfercase causing it to blow out the transfercase vent.

when about 2qts of tranny fluid gets into the transfercase this can also cause no drive when cold starting .

if the transmission fluid is too high it is possible coolant got into it.

J cat thanks for the reply but a nv4500 is a manual trans and has nothing to do with antifreeze/coolant.

my son has the 1994 s10 5sp manual tranny. I should have caught that . so that would be another seal .

I have not done that seal . some seals are poorly made. did you get a GM OEM part last time ?

The last seal I put in was a OE seal from my local GM dealer.

when we got this 5sp 3years ago dexron III was in it. I replaced with synchromesh transmission fluid. this has the proper additives to protect the yellow bronze zinc metals in this.

shifting was very much improved. also the small leaks did reduce.

shifter gasket did need replacing.
