Re: 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Alarm Problem
There are a few things it could be. I know the older Eclipses used to be plagued with this problem because of the door chime buttons would rust out. Check those on yours to make sure they haven't rusted out and been pushed through the body or have lost their grounding. If it has then it will see the door as always being open and will cause this to happen. Another one that I didn't realize was that the hood actually had a button as well for this and the mount broke for it and it would hang half on and would sometimes randomly go off. I'm not certain if the newer Eclipses had this as well but it's worth a look. If all of these check out as ok then you may need to have it looked at by the dealership or another reputable shop that can service the alarm system.
