Question Factory Satellite Radio installation

My 2005 Lincoln LS has the factory radio with the Satellite Radio (SAT) radio button.

Does anyone know how to install the factory unit?

Where is the antenna for the satellite radio located or does one have to be installed?

Does anyone know where I can find a factory unit?

I would prefer factory equipment versus an aftermarket, but in the event anyone has installed an after market unit successfully, I would like to hear from you as well.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your help

Re: Factory Satellite Radio installation

You may be paving new ground here. I finally was able to check the factory service manual for the 2005 LS and came up absolutely empty. The audio section does not address the SAT feature and the various audio system connectors do not appear to identify pins that would have been used for satellite radio capability.

Since this same basic audio system was used in several models of Ford over the recent years, you may search a few different FoMoCo forums here and see if you can find someone that knows how to make use of this button.

Re: Factory Satellite Radio installation

There are a few ipod and aux input adapters (PIE makes some) that make use of the SAT button. In addition to the factory (was a dealer add item) sat receiver, you can (or at least you could) get aftermarket receivers for both (when they were separate) satellite services that plugged into the back of the radio and used the SAT button, instead of the universal RF type kits.

Re: Factory Satellite Radio installation

Thank you both for this insight. It looks like I need to continue my research. I think my first stop will be the parts desk at the Lincoln Dealer to get a little info on the mysterious SAT button.

From there it will be off to other Ford forums and then to a few reputable after market installers in my area.

Again Thank you!!
