2000 p71 hose by tire

hi i got 2000 p71 and theirs a hose by the back left tire that's sticking out what is that for? on the inside of the bumper right next to the gas cap. thanks

That is the cannister vent hose. It is supposed to be placed up inside the frame. If you get under the car you will see the hole in the frame where it goes.

OK can that hose cause a code for a leak because some times a code comes out of no where and says emission leak but small leak.

not a emission leak but a evap leak small one.

If it is a code P0442, it is possible. Also if there is some trash built up in the hose, it can set the same code.
