ORIGINAL Key Fobs do NOT work - NO STOCK RADIO - Please help!
Hey all.
I bought a 2004 used Impala a year ago. I love my audio, so the head unit/radio was immediately changed. It only came with one key - thats it. My trunk began to leak, and when I pulled away the carpeting in the trunk - low and behold - two key fobs - still in plastic! I tried them - didn't work. I just replaced the battery in one... same thing - no response at all. My issue? All the web pages that talk about 'programming' the key fobs require the stock radio to be installed. Please tell me someone here knows a super secret work around for this? Also - are there other things that I should check as well? PS - The power locks work when using the button on the doors. |

I have heard of the proceedure for programing remotes through the radio, but have never done it. You may still be able to have the remotes programed with a scanner at a dealer. The remotes only use the RCDLR module for programing, this module then lets the BCM know what to do. I know that at our shop, the service advisors will program remotes at no charge.

have you tried standing in front of the car press and hold both lock AND unlock buttons at the same time 5-10 seconds normaly the horn will beep or lights flash or both and its programed!
good luck
