Hard starting in cold weather, 6v of course, had stick trans so had babbited rods and a weak oiling system, beat it up but it kept going.

Re: Old Classic Can you id?

I own a stock 48 Fleetmaster with the same drivetrain - a 216 cube six with the 3 speed column shift. Yep - the oiling system is definitely not up to sustained high engine RPM. My car has a stock 4:11 rear end - so about 55 MPH is all she's comfortable with. These old long stroke Chevy engines only make 90 HP, but, generate 200 Ft-Lbs of torque at real low RPM. For a 3400 pound car, it performs reasonably well for a 63 year old vehicle.
