In a bad POSITION....

So, gentlemen, I have a 94 LeSabre that is in need of your advice. About a month or so ago, the engine light pops up and it was the throttle position sensor with low voltage. That weekend, after trial and error, I managed to replace the sensor, but the wiring I needed help with since I have never attempted this. My local mechanic took the new pigtail connector and soldered the wiring together, heat shrink tubed then wrapped electrical tape for safe measure. Everything fixed, hunky-dory. The last few days, I had the same code come back. Not only that, the weird thing is that sometimes I would start it and it would be higher throttle than normal. How can I tell? Well, after putting it into gear, the car takes off as soon as I let my foot off the brake pedal without touching the accelerator pedal. Drove it around for the last couple of days and it doesn't do it all the time, only intermittently. The code pops up every now and then, and when I turn the car off and restart, the engine light is no longer there and car goes back to 0 throttle. The voltage reads .39, so it looks like it is getting the necessary juice. Followed the wiring back into the firewall and I didn't notice any corrosion or loose connections. Took the electrical tape off of where it was soldered and lightly tugged on the wires and are all still intact. I cannot for the life of me figure out what is wrong. Can anyone help me???

Re: In a bad POSITION....

the .39 you are reading is the voltage back to the pcm, the input should have 5v reference, not sure but I believe they were adjustable and should read about .5 back to the pcm, check into that.

Make sure you have the code cleared after you fix a problem. Probably not the problem, but just a reminder.
Chris.
