Looking for 2002 or newer Jeep Grand Cherokee what models will let you disengage All wheel drive?

Re: Disengaging AWD

It depends on which system is installed on the Jeep. If it's a Full Time 4wd (aka AWD) system then 4wd cannot be disengaged except by removing the front driveshaft. However if there's a part time TC then you should be able to shift into 2wd.

For 2004 and earlier models you could tell by the shifter on the TC but after that I'm not sure if you can do the same thing.

Do you have a Jeep or are you considering getting one?
