2001 Escape multiple coils...

I'll try to keep this breif and to the point.
2001 Escape 3.0 140,000 +-
multiple coil faiures over 1 year period
All bad coils werer OEM.
Car runs bad and misses, throws a misfire code for 1 cyl only. do basic diagnostics and come to the conclusion its a coil. move suspect coil to another cylinder and miss follows coil, replace coil. car runs fine...repeat..
I have done this 4 times and now am looking at #5.
Am I missing something ?? Am I over anylizing it..??
Or just coincidence ??

The coils going bad??? Are they the replacement coils going bad or just the OEM coils??? If it is just the OEM coils going bad then I would say that whoever designed the coil for Ford did proper R&D when they designed the coils to last as long as they have. Think about it...the car is 10 years old...when new, the car probably came with a 10 year nontransferrable warranty. The coils are lasting as long as they were designed to. Who the heck keeps a Ford Focus for 10 years? The original owner probably thought the 10 year warranty was awesome at the time of originally purchasing the vehicle. You ever buy things that happen to break right around the time the warranty expires?

First of all it's not a Focus..It's an Escape.
Second it's obivious you have no clue what your talking about.

With key on, no crank, use digital multimeter across battery posts. Note the reading. Then check primary wire at coil, white wire with violet tracer. Compare the primary voltage readings on all the coils. All, should be close to battery voltage.

How long since you changed the plugs? You migfht be better off, having somebody put a scope on the system.

Plugs were replaced with the first coil, Good suggestion about voltage..
Damn...I wish I could afford a scope.

Your forgiven.... Thanks for at least taking time to respond.
As for your other info.. Cars do not come with a 10 year warranty and no one can design an electrical componant to go bad in any set window of time, to many variables.
