Ranger auto trans interchange

Hello all,
I find that once again I'm in the need of help from the forum.
The problem is with a '99 Ranger 3.0 automatic 4x4. Both the original 4x4 transmission and transfer case were removed and replaced with a 2wd auto trans. I guess the truck worked until the reverse band broke,which was a couple of years after the swap was made. Not so sure about this since I bought the truck in its present broken state.

Anyway, I'm wanting to replace the trans and transfer case and return the truck to its original 4x4 condition,and I really need help finding what transmissions will be a direct fit. Are the Explorer automatics and transfer cases the same as those used in the Rangers? If so,what years will fit?

The problem is the engine,,,options are limited by 3.0 engine ...check ,,,car-part.com,,,you will see what I mean.....
