SLow transmission response
From time to time, the first time the car is started in a day, the transmission (4T60E, 1993) may take several ............... seconds before first engagement, either in forward or reverse. Fluid level OK, color OK, filter changed 2/3 years ago. This began just a few months ago. After that, everything will work flawlessly for all the day , no problem at all, all shifts OK, all subsequent starts OK.
What does the experience of others tell on a prognostic or reliability basis ?

Re: SLow transmission response
Hi Louis,
I seem to recall my trans in my grand prix performing similarly. Although a different trans, wen the trans chain snapped from the 150hp nitrous shot, the trans mechanic replaced the line pressure solenoid. I remember that he was going to have to pull off the side cover to replace it, and that he said that it can get sticky. Perhaps if your trans has one, it may be the culprit.....thanks again for your help to me for past issues.

Re: SLow transmission response
Could be the seals in the tranny....they get old, and takes awhile for them to seal.....typically, gets worse in the colder weather....

Re: SLow transmission response
Thanks for both inputs. I'm sure the same pattern has been seen before, so unless one tells it is a definite precursor of a sudden catastrophy, I can live with the "problem" , not serious enough as to want working to eliminate the cause, as long as it does not worsen and will not cause to be stranded in the middle of nowhere....
...my cars have always brought me back home...even to jump a 3rd tooth of the timing gear ('68 Galaxy), or fry the ignition ('79 Country Squire) , or break the last strand of a corroded PCM supply wire ('87 Taurus), shoot the ignition module ('93 TS) ...etc.... just as I arrive in the backyard...

Re: SLow transmission response
Over time this will get worse.. The lip seals are most likely brittle or one may be inverted.. Just be ready for a failure in the future.. 18 years is a long time, so its done a good job..
