Completed - Tamiya Yamaha YZR500 Marlboro

Here's my latest finished kit. It's the original release 1/12th scale kit from Tamiya. This kit came with the rider (still being worked on). The kit was released in 1985 and represents the 1983 bike, I think. It's built out of the box with Tamiya white and Tamiya Flo Red cleared with Tamiya clear and polished. I also used the original Tamiya decals. They looked a little yellow on the paper but applied to the model nicely with the help of a little hot water and a sponge to get them to conform. After applying the decals, I polished them with "The Treatment" model car wax to get a shine on them. I wasn't going to take a chance of messing up the decals with clear coat.

I found it difficult to photograph the white and red. A different background may have helped with the contrast.

Thanks for looking...

Beautiful! Can't believe that's a decal sheet of my age, almost. They still look crisp and neat on that shiny bike! Well done!

Thanks everyone...

Just paint on the brakes... Masking, spraying, washes and dry brushing.

Wow, such a beautiful finish, looks superb. Something just works so well with that 'classic' Marlboro colour scheme..
