I just swapped my old sony amp with a newer 600 watt planet audio amp. I hooked up everything in the exact sequence that my old amp was wired and triple checked everything. The only difference between the two was on the sony all the power, ground and remote was on one side and all the other stuff was opposite. Well on the planet audio the ground terminal is right next to my positive speakers terminal. Long story short, I turned the deck on and everything sounded perfect and pounded way better than before. When I started the engine I muted the deck and I could hear annoying engine whining through all of my speakers which in turn is ruining my sound quality by quite a bit. If anyone has any ideas or advice on what I should do to correct this situation please step up. It will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if it would work, but try putting the DynoMat sound sheets, under the carpet of your firewall/floormat area. I know they Make DynoMat sheets for your trunk for Subwoofers to avoid trunk rattling, and i'm not exactly sure but they may make one to avoid engine noise too, they sell them at Summit Racing (www.summitracing.com) or you could try JC Whitney (www.jcwhitney.com) and i think there pretty cheap, good luck!

Sounds like your RCA wires are close or over lapping your power wire. Make sure that you keep those wires away from each other.

" VelocityCivic91 " - is totally right. its alternator noise, put your RCAs on one side of the car and the power and remote wires on the other side if u do this it will work perfect with that noise.

first thing that I would do is to check the ground.....putting the RCA's close to the power wire will affect the sound quality for the highs and mids but NOT the subs....you should not be able to hear any alternator whine through the subs they can not reproduce that high of a frequencey, and also is every thing amped, and also is it all grounded at the same spot...

I was way wrong about the wires dude, but i've heard alot'a good things about those DynaMats, they still might be a good investment, good sound is hard to come by....:sun:

use the shortest ground wire possible, run your power and RCA cables as far away from each other as possible. If you still have the noise, i would replace the RCA's with a higher quality set.

Oxygen in the RCAs and i would bet the ground isn't very good. If you have multiple grounds, try going all to the same bolt. Is your power wire in the same size as power wire out? About at the battery, power and ground same?

definatly run rca's and power wires far away from each other.
get the shortest ground you can from the amp, then get a nice set of rca's and you wont hear that whine anymore.
