09 Lancer GTS Daytime Running Lights?

The driver side DRL was out on my 09 Lancer, and when I went to buy new bulbs the book at the auto part store said that there was no DRL's on an 09 Lancer. I took the old bulb out and the number on it was 1156. I bought a pack of Sylvania 1156 LL bulbs. The base of the bulbs looks the same as the original, but the glass bulb on the new ones is almost like a ball where the old bulb was more of a cylinder shape. I put the new bulb in when I got home and now neither side lights up. The bulb in the passenger side still looks good. Any ideas about either why this would happen or if I have the wrong bulbs?
