LT vs LTZ

Looking at getting a 2011 Silerado. Good sales going on now. Does anyone prefer the LT or the LTZ?? And why? Are there any major design flaws? Thanks for your input in advance!

more specifically search this forum for the following items.... parking brakes, brakes, Anti lock braking system (ABS), wheel bearings, window motors... some models are better than others.... 4 wheel drive issues with the encoder motors. differential issues and transfer case issues if the fluids arnt changed regularly.... these are the more common issues with the chevy silverado series.... not sure how many of these still pertain to models newer than 2007....

also search piston slap or knocking noise in motor when first started and the motor is cold, fuel pump issues

however i must note that my 2000 silverado has 185000 miles on it and it is currently my daily driver, 60,000 miles of it has been either pulling a 26 ft camper trailer, or a tandem axle car hauler trailer, or a horse trailer, mine has been extremely dependable in the past and my 4 wheel drive still works.

Where is the "WTF" flag?

I can tell you this,my 02 Silvy just hit 188,000 miles. It has been worked extremely hard. Many thousands of miles pulling a gooseneck cattle trailer, and then many more pulling my race car trailer. I replaced 1 alternator about 6 months ago, (it only failed due to operator error - never let someone else hook up jumper cables to your vehicle while it is running - if they get +/- swapped, that huge arc CAN kill the diodes in your Alt!!).
Changed rear brake pads 2 days ago. Changed front pads at 114,000.

If I could go back and buy a brand new one just like it, I would. Best truck I've ever owned, and I've had many. I also said the same thing about my 98 Chevy when I sold it. Had 293,000 miles on it. Pretty much same story - 1 Alt, 1 Starter, and 2 sets of brakes. This one is so much more comfortable, though. It is an LT, and I don't know what the diff between that and an LTZ is - Leather seats, maybe?

BTW, I have driven over 37 years, owned 7 different Chevy trucks, (a 1960, 1968, 1971, 1974, 1979, 1988, 2002), put well over 1 million combined miles on them, and NOT ONE of them EVER let me down, or stranded me anywhere. Add another 212,000 for the 95 Chevy Van.
I'd be a fool to drive anything else...

I currently own a 2003 Silvie Z71 LT and I'm satisfied with it, but the're good sales going on now and think it's time for an upgrade. I search this site for 2011 silverado and nothing came up. I was just looking to see if someone picked up on something that I wouldn't normally look at while making a purchase. And I really don't know what the big difference is with the LT and LTZ other than the flex fuel thing. Thanks Ol' Jim

I agree, there are some good deals available on the 2011 trucks right now. And the fact that there are no major problem threads on this site, are a pretty good indication that the new trucks are well-built, as the model year 2011's have been out about a full year now.
Not sure if you are interested in a HD Silverado, but if you want to see some great comparisons of the Chevy against the Ford Super Duty & Dodge Heavy Duty trucks, check out Chevy.com/HDtoHD. All I can say, is WOW, all those guys that bought Dodges will be feeling sick if they see how gutless & slow they are, and how poorly they compare. The fords are somewhat close in power, but brakes aren't as good, and the frames bend & buckle pretty bad. The Chevy kicks butt on both of them.

I too like my truck, i was just noting there have been many ongoing issues with these trucks in the past, most of them contribute to improper maintenance and upkeep along the way..... all in all I AM PLEASED with my Silverado

I would recommend that you take a look at the site I have attached for more information on the differences between the LT and the LTZ. Generally the LTZ is going to have more options and features available. You can also choose your specific model at the top of the page so that the options match the vehicle that you are considering.
