Im going to start restoring a 1985 300ZX tt 2+2 collectors edition next week, the car has been sitting in a heated garauge for 5 years, but now its time to get her on the road. the car has travelled 160 000 km but the motor was totally rebiult 40 000km ago. I just want to hear about some of the unforseen problems people have run into try to restore old Z's, thanks

Wasn't the 85 300zx a single turbo?

ZXTT: Yes, unless otherwise modified, the '85 300ZX has a VG30DET engine (single turbo). The first twin turbo was manufactured in the 1990 model (your VG30DETT engine).
S14Kyle: Yes, the '85 model came standard with T-Tops ('84 did not). Buzsaw: Here's a link that might be helpful with your restoration project (specs, mods, Q&A, common problems, parts #'s, etc.): http://www.zeeyalater.net/comprobs.htm. Congrats on your new "baby"! Please post a pic. I'd love to see it. If any of you want links for parts, let me know, and I'll post them here (my own personal picks).
