rear view mirror

hey guys/gals,ok the rear view mirror fell off my sons 97 lesabre
i no the fix in reglueing but how does the metal piece come out
so i dont have all the wieght on it.

there is a small allen screw below the pivot point of mirror that holds metal thing in place

The set screw was no longer installed during & after 1996. The "metal thing" is located with a spring loaded metal clip & it takes a surgeon to remove. I have removed these several times before, but each procedure was a little bit different. Sorry, but you will just have to sit down with the mirror in your lap, along with a few small screwdrivers to figure it out. Installiation is no problem, just slide the mirror over the "metal thing" until you here it pop/click in place.
