89' Cutlass Ciera Removable Roof?
Hey guys, I just recently purchased my first car, and 89' Cutlass Ciera, and I have a question that may be stupid but please bear with me. The roof on the car appears to be a soft-top, like a convertible, but from the inside you can tell it is not. Is this an optional feature? As in if I wanted to paint the car, could I remove it so I could paint the car a solid color? I'm including a picture so you know what I'm talking about, as I haven't seen any other cutlasses with this type of roof.

Re: 89' Cutlass Ciera Removable Roof?
Looks like a fabric covering.
Usually the roof underneath is primed and painted, but then covered in a layer of glue to hold the fabric down. There will also be small trim pieces around the edges. To remove the fabric, you need to rip and peel it off, then sand the car back, prime it and paint it again. Potentially a very big job.

Welcome to AF. Common after market " Phaeton" top done back in the day, if you remove it it is ruined, , after all this time some damage to the trim could occur.

Thanks guys! So at least I know it's possible now, albeit difficult and potentially hazardous to the car.
