Won't start like its in gear.

98 Lumina. The shifter moves into all gear positions but even in park the car rolls like it’s in neutral. When I turn the key nothing, no instrument lights, door chimes nothing like the battery is dead. When I attempt to jump it the starter clicks but the engine does not turn over. I’m guessing some type of module, fuse or even a linkage problem. It’s like trying to start a car that is in gear. Any suggestions besides getting rid of my baby is appreciated. Thanks

Re: Won't start like its in gear.

Problem solved. I found the linkage cable and it was dry and I couldn't move it. Sprayed some lube and now the problem is fixed. I'm guessing the car was stuck in gear so that's why it wouldn't start.
