Lotus Esprit S1

Hello everyone! I want to build this beautiful car. It's a very first Esprit.

It will be used this rare Nichimo kit.

As you see this kit is curbside. But I want to put in it an engine and a chassis. For this purpose the begun kit of Lotus Esprit Sport 300 has been bought on eBay.

It was disassembled by means of a knife.

All painted details was placed in a pan with a brake fluid.

Comparison of two platforms.

The beginning of adjustment of a new platform to a body.

After several cuttings I have married body halves.

Comparison of the original and the new one.

There is only a little problem with the overhang of the platform.

It will be corrected in a following update.

Re: Lotus Esprit S1

just a heads up make sure to check your ride height too(on the revell chassie) i had to lower mine all around to get the look i wanted and with the big foot tires youre using it might make it look taller if youre keeping it stock

Ambitious project. I'm following closely.
I like build reports of these "hard to find" and/or old kits. Kits are made to be built, not to disappear in the stacks of collectors.

Go for it!

Re: Lotus Esprit S1

I want to paint the interior like this

The front end needs to be corrected. Today it looks so.

But the front bumper is too wide and low.
I want to do it closer to original.

Very nice project. To see an Esprit in its early and original version being built at this level of detail will be fun to watch. I will follow this for sure!
