Angry Vibration when braking

Hey guys, I have a 99 Chevy Cavalier with the 2.2L OHV engine, and I've been dealing with vibration when braking, especially at highway speeds. I just had it in for service and my mechanic replaced a warped front rotor and said that was the problem. It's better now than it was, but I'm still getting some vibration. Any thought? Thanks!

Re: Vibration when braking

Did he only replace one rotor? Chances are if you have one warped rotor the other is as well.

Well, he said that it was only one rotor, and I have good reason to believe that because I bought the car from the owner of the shop and he knows I'll keep coming back to him with problems. And by the way, he didn't charge for the rotor.

Re: Vibration when braking

Check to make sure both front tires are inflated to the same pressure.

I needed a little bit of air in the tires, but that didn't solve it....I'm thinking it might be an alignment/balancing issue.

Re: Vibration when braking

It is possible that the brake pad is still adjusting to the unwarped rotor, but alignment could be to blame. But typically with alignment issues there will be other symptoms. Do you notice any pulling while driving?

Keep us posted as you troubleshoot.

Re: Vibration when braking

Do you have any pulling on braking to one side or the other when you brake. A collasped brake line can cause vibrations but usually has a hard pull to one side when you first brake.

No, there is no pulling. Before I had the warped rotor replaced, it would pull forward hard when I got off the brake and tried to accelerate, but that hasn't been happening anymore, which is part of what leads me to believe it's a different problem ie. aligment perhaps.
