I have a 2001 Kia Sportage SUV. Lately it started sputtering and loosing power especially going up hill. Today I was going up a hill and I lost complete power, and the car shut off. Now The car will turn over just fine but will not start. I disconnected the hose from the fuel filter (Tank side) and tried to start the car and no fuel came out, and the filter felt empty. I suspect it is my fuel pump but have read a lot about a “fuel relay” problem as well. I attempted to find the fuel pump access in the rear of the vehicle but despite everything I have read, it is not there. Any suggestions?

Re: fuel pump?
It IS there....fold rear seat, there is a small piece of the carpet under rear seat ., fold up...and the trap is just there under, 4 screws to be removed...and you have all hoses and fuel pump connector right there.
YOU can pull the fuel pump relay and appy 12V from battery to connector 5 www.avigex.ca/kia/fuelpump99.gif
