Intermittent high idle
2001 GP 3.1L
So.. what would cause my car to idle high, intermittently? Usually around 1500-2000 rpm. Shutting it down, and starting it up again often gets rid of this. Mid-drive it will also sometimes kick into a high idle, and randomly go back down. No SES light. |

Re: Intermittent high idle
There are several items that can cause this issue. 1. Bad vacuum line. 2. Sticking throttle position sensor. 3. Leaking intake manifold gasket. 4. Bad or sticking idle air control motor.

Re: Intermittent high idle
Try disconnecting the harness to the MAF(with engine off) and start the engine. See if the problem goes away, you can drive like that for a while, it will trip the CEL.
If it does try cleaning the MAF with CRC MAF cleaner available at autoparts stores. Oscar.
