Does anyone know a source for these hose joints?

Hey all,

I'm looking to get ready to start a mid 70s F1 car and noticed these joints. (See thumb below.)

I can't find a good scale replica of them anywhere. They are smaller, thicker and have a sharper bend than most of the joints I've seen out there. (They are the blue anodized 90 degree bends.) My only other thought is just to scratch build them. Before I do this, I wanted to check and see if anyone knows what they're called and if they are available aftermarket. Anyone know?

You then use Tamiya transparent colors to paint, over silver if necessary.

I have a detail Master fitting kit that has alum. rod included in it that you use the appropriate size and bend to suit your application. Then you just add the fittings and paint them with either a color sharpie or paint them with clear blue and red Tamiya paint. I would assume you could use any alum. rod to build these yourself. It's really not that hard to do. Good luck.

Thanks, but I've tried all the ones you found in the search. (I probably should have said that in the OP...) They're not *exactly* right, these are slightly different. I don't know if they're original to the car or if it's from a restoration but these joints are thicker and less "flowing" in the corners. They're just different. They seem to be only on F1 and sports cars from the 70s and early 80s. I guess i'll just build them myself. You're right, it shouldn't be too difficult but I wanted to see if something was out there first. (I like to see it done so I can replicate it...)

It goes against my better judgment to try and help you because all you seem to want to do is give me crap but here's a little info for anyone who wants it.

The "Hose Ends",,,, (that's what we call them in real world racing, don't know why the model manufactures call them hose joints, must be a Japanese thing),,, pictured are known as "forged" hose ends as opposed to "tubular" hose ends that seem to be all that is available in the modeling world. Forged hose ends are generally stronger and we tend to use them in areas of vulnerability. They are not as good as tubular hose ends for the flow of the fluid inside so we try not to use them unless we have to. I am not sure which type of hose end came first Tubular or Forged but I do not think it is something you could pin down to a specific era of car. If you want to see what is available in the real car world do a Google search for Brown & Miller, Earl's, Aeroquip or XRP. You will find that there is a pretty vast selection of Hose Ends and Fittings that have yet to be made available to the modelers.

Looks like standard AN fittings to me, just a bigger -size.



Your best bet might be with the Top Studio (Large) sized ones and modifying them to your needs OR scratch build your own to better replicate them to your liking.

I recall....you made a stement in error, Icon called you on it, and Icon was correct...and that's when you gave him "crap".

Modeler's hose end joints are what you are looking for...they even come painted in the right colors for you in 3 different scales....too bad they were discontinued, and they go for big money if they show up for sale.

I have a few, but you can't afford them.

LOL as usual you swing and miss....You can't afford them because I wouldn't sell them to you for any amount of money.

I couldn't think of anything more perfect than the Modelers hose end set....
Glad I stocked up before they were discontinued.

Believe it or not, I knew that is what you were saying. You are a regular legend in your own mind. It's too bad that the value of these sets has dwindled mightily since other manufacturers have gotten into this, like Top Studio, MFH, etc. They were valuable when they were the only game in town...not so much anymore.
