If I get 16" wheels can I use one of my old 15" steel wheels as a spare?

I have a kia soul with 15" steel wheels.
If U buy some now 16" wheels would I be able to use one of the 15" steel wheels as a spare?

Just wondering if it will do any damage, or how fast you should go etc..

yes you can use the 15 if you don't have to put adapters on your new wheels.

I dont have to put adapters on. The 16" wheels im upgrading to are actually stock alloy wheels Im buying from someone who put aftermarket rims on on their car.

What you need to worry about is the circumference of the old tire/wheel combination and the circumference of the new 16" tire/wheel combination. As long as they are VERY close, you could use the old wheel as your spare for emergency situations, although I wouldn't recommend using it for anything except to get to safety.
