Question Which car should I choose?

Which car should I choose?

Hi guys.

I need some help. I live in the Faroe Islands (a country that you probably don't know of) and I need a used car. I have a wife and 3 children (age 0 – 7).

Unfortunately we don't have a lot of money so it has to be a cheap car. We have $7838 in cash and we need to borrow the rest......but only if the car I worth it.

If it was up to you which car would you choose? (we are probably going to drive about 12427 miles a year if that helps)

Citroen Berlingo 2.0 HDI (2003):
Mileage: 47847
Price: $ 11.757
Fuel type: Diesel

Re: Which car should I choose?

I'll be the first to admit that I know nothing about any of those models (or your homeland - sorry!) but here is the advice I can give...

I would not go with the cheapest option available, just because there is probably a darn good reason for it being the cheapest (meaning not the best). You do have limited funds to work with, but keep a few things in mind. Diesel engines typically get better fuel economy than gasoline engines, although repairs are typically more expensive (and so is the diesel fuel). If you can find a private seller, see if you can get any maintenance records of any work they have done to the vehicle - anything from oil changes, recalls, replacement parts, etc. Not all people keep good records, but the more records you have, the more likely the vehicle was maintained well and cared for. That's not to say you can't buy good used vehicles from dealerships, but you won't know any history other than work the shop claims to have done.

I know that probably wasn't what you were looking for, but I hope it helps give you some direction! Keep us updated with your search!
