2002 Mazda Protege5 - OBDII communication failure
Hey all..
I have a 2002 Mazda Protege 5. I failed NJ state inspection for OBDII communication failure. I checked the power pin (16). It was good with 12+ I checked pin (4) being the main ground and pin (5) being the signal ground. They are good too. I tried disconnecting the battery for a while. That didn't help. I checked every fuse I could find in the engine compartment and under the driver side dash with a volt meter. All is good. The car runs perfect with no engine light on. I have a simple OBD II scanner that keeps coming up ERR with KOEoff and with KOEon.. I tried using the scanner on a toyota and the scanner worked fine.. Would anyone have a solution as to what I can troubleshoot? I read somewhere on the internet that a 2002 Mazda can either be OBDII or CAN.... Just for reference, the pins on the connector have wires in 4,5,7, 13 & 16 Thanks Rick |
