Help with Perspex interior panneling

Hey all.
I have a glouriously standard 89 G102 Dihatsu charade which i am planning on sprusing up a bit. So far all i have done is put in a head unit, some decent speakers and about $200 australian dollars worth of neons, including flexiglow. But now i wanna start re-trimming the interior and am thinking about replacing the panel around the gear stick. In the charade it currently is a reasonably small, rectangular shape, but i want to make a larger one out of a green piece of perspex and mould it over a wooden mould to meet up with the centre console with the CD player etc. I would also paint the centre console frame and some other elements in the car the same green. Just wondering has neone tried nething like this before? i have bent perspex in woodwork at school and found it easy to work with... i am just wondering does it have any drastic side affects being in a car, or would the moulding required be to hard. Any advice would be great... i am planning on making custom door panels for the lower half of the door out of the same green perspex too, to accomodate some speakers
