99 crv "D" light out on dashboard gear indicator

the other day i had trouble getting the shift lever into D and beyond, and after going back and forth a few times got it into Drive but noticed the light behind the D was now out. lever goes through all gears normally now; would have thought it was just a burned out light but because of the resistance i wonder if some contact might have gotten damaged inside. i have no idea how big of a deal it is to get behind the panel to look at this or whether the bulb, if it's just burned out, is replaceable. anybody dealt with this?

Re: 99 crv "D" light out on dashboard gear indicator

Don't think the light has anything to do with the stiff shifting. Do all of the other indicators light up? I replaced the "D" indicator bulb on my 2002 CRV. Also had to do the backlight for the odometer at the same time. Had to remove the instrument cluster and get the bulbs at the dealer. Very easy job. It was a while back and I forget how I got it all apart but I got the instructions from a You Tube video.
