radio connector harness?

I installed a new radio into my cousin's 1991 Ford f250 xlt Lariat and after i was finished there were 2 wires left with no clear (at all) place to go. His dash lights now do not work. why i am confused is because those 2 wires were originally; along with the 7 other stereo wires, in the connector harness that connected into his stock cassette player. Does anyone have a color description or diagram that can help me? or had the same experience that knows what to do with those wires to bring his dash lights back to life?

Re: radio connector harness?

Those two are probably the dimmer control for the factory stereo which your aftermarket probably don't have. Strip them out and temporarily connect them together and see what happens. If it fixes it make it permanent, if it don't, start looking a fuses. Not to sure the open wires should effect the rest of the dash lights, it should be a parallel circuit, not series...

Re: radio connector harness?

Im not sure which 2 wires you have left, but usually on aftermarket radios they have a yellow wire that is usually the one that controls the lighting. Sometimes tied into with an orange wire. Hope this helps.

What color are the two other wires you have left??? Are they from the trucks wiring or from the radios wiring? Im assuming the trucks wiring.
