Exclamation 92-95 4.3L CPI will stall after 50km/hr

Hi everyone.

I have a 92-95 4.3L in my '88 s10. Year is unknown as swap was done prior to my ownership.

I recently changed the FP and FPR in my truck. the FPR after about 4 weeks crapped out on me. I continued to drive it until the engine couldnt run. Replaced the FPR with quality one this time.

As soon as it went in, the truck went back to normal with a little bit of a rough idle where it almost stalls out every minute or so, but I've had that since I owned my truck. However, I took it down the road and it stalled on me. So I pulled over and started it again with no problem. I figured out that I could drive it around 40km or so without stepping on it and it wont stall, it will run fine. As soon as I go and open her up or just keep my foot on the gas and she hits about 50+ she will putter then stall.

I just checked my MAP sensor, and readings were fine. TPS was .60V closed and 3.8 WOT. So those readings aren't exactly perfect so maybe that needs a replacement while I'm at it.

Truck has new wires, cap, rotor, plugs, and filters.

What do?

Thanks,
Kevin

Re: 92-95 4.3L CPI will stall after 50km/hr

I went and picked up a new TPS and discovered the exact same numbers so I returned it. I noticed at WOT my throttle wasn't fully open, there was about a 1/4 or so to the plate that stops it so I pulled on it pretty good and saw as high as 4.5 on the TPS. I backed off the screws some more and found some more play, but not a whole lot and I think if anything its working in the other direction. I'll have to put around with that later tn.

I did notice that the TPS has to go on at about a 30degree angle and pull it back a bit in order for it to line up. So maybe thats why my closed throttle is in the .60 range. Is there any adjustment I can make on the throttle to align that up better if its even a big deal?

Re: 92-95 4.3L CPI will stall after 50km/hr

I forgot to post the rest of my thread.

But here are some pictures. Look closely at the sensor with the red circle. I have nothing plugging into it, since the day I owned the truck. I have no idea what it is along with the other sensors shown. I thought I was pulling out something on the passenger side but it appears to be a coolent temp sensor? Because liters of coolant came dumping out at me when I pulled it, so I learned a lesson there.

Passenger side, what I pulled out and broke, assuming coolant temp sensor?

Heres the connector for the above sensor

Below is a connector for a sensor that is between the #3 and 5 cylinders, what is it?

The sensor is goes to is below the one in the red circle. The one with the metal pins sticking out has nothing to go into it, and I am trying to figure out what it is.
