O2 replacement - 2002 Cavalier

I have a 2002 Cavalier that has a bad 02 sensor(pre-cat) and it looked like a simple enough repair. However even with an 02 socket and 3/8 rachet there is not room to turn the darn thing. Will the metal coolant tube move out of the way id I unhook the rubber hose on the left and remove the bolt on it? I can't see what the metal tube connects to on the engine....not sure if it is another hose or a rigid type connector there.

Are you talking about the metal coolant hose that goes from the rubber thermostat hose and around towards the firewall?

Yes, that is it. The problem is while I can get a O2 socket on it and 3/8 drive ratchet, you can't turn it as there is no room. I was wondering if a 1/4" drive would fair better or if I needed to move the hose. Car is loaned out for a few days so I can't try either right now but appreciate any advise. Looked like I had no problems.....

If you follow the metal hose around towards the firewall there is a stud mounted to the transmission that holds this line in place. You can you remove this nut (I thinks it's an 18mm).
If not try using a longer extension and come in closer to the battery side of the car.
