1998 Monte Carlo Fan wont turn on with A/C
I have a 1998 Monte Carlo with 3800. My cooling fan wont cut on with air condition. The a/c compressor is coming on and the cooling fan for the engine cooling. No fan for a/c so my air condition is not working. Could someone please help. Thanks alot, well appreciated..

If the ac compressor comes on and there is freon in the system then you should get cooling initially without any fan operation.

Thanks for the info. I mean the cooling fan in front of the radiator. Its has two but no when the compressor comes on the 2nd one dont come on anymore. The a/c is not getting cold. The compressor is coming on. Just happened all of a sudden.

Your Variable stroke compressor can run with as little as 5 ounces (system spec is 32 onces) of refrigerant in it- won't cool, but will engage---so my guess from here (knowing 65% of a/c failures are due to loss of refrigerant) is that you have lost enough refrigerant to not cool and not be able to generate 175 psi discharge pressure. does it cool while driving? probably not. I say your cooling fans are fine, the system is just not activating them- due to a/c leak. Find and fix your leak, recharge, and watch what cooling fans do.

Re: 1998 Monte Carlo Fan wont turn on with A/C
Thanks for everyones help, it needs the compressor replaced. I filled it with freon and its throwing the compressor oil out and the freon. I ordered one so wont be too bad to put on. Thanks for all your help. Have a happy memorial day weekend.
